GENERAL NEWS

Spike has made a full recovery from cancer, and is in good spirits. However, there is still no plans for the Band to be playing a tour. or even a show anytime soon. Ofcourse once we confirm a show, it will be posted on the TOUR section of this web site.

Thats right were back online again. Incase ya didnt notice, this web site has been off line for about 2 months or so. Our old host seems to have vanished into thin air. We have made the move to a new host, and will be updating the web site again soon.

R.I.P. Mikey Offender 1961-2007

Mikey "Offender" Donaldson passed away in his sleep on September 22 in Barcelona Spain where he had recently relocated from Amsterdam. The cause is unknown at the moment. He was 46. Mikey was the bass player for Austin, Texas punk band THE OFFENDERS from 1978-86. He also recorded bass tracks on MDC's groundbreaker Millions Of Dead Cops and DRI's Dealing With It. Mikey also performed regularly with MDC in the early 1980s. He moved to San Francisco in 1986 and went on to play and record with Gary Floyd (DICKS) and Lynn Perko (IMPERIAL TEEN) in SISTER DOUBLE HAPPINESS. After leaving the music scene for ten years or so, Mikey returned to Austin and reunited with the original Offenders line-up for a gig at Emos in March 2002. In 2003 MDC recruited Mikey and the original line-up, recorded a new album, and have been touring all over the world ever since. Mikey is universally regarded as one of the most innovative and inimitable masters of the bass guitar. He played his Rickenbacker like it was a out-sized rhythm guitar. Taking cues from Jack Bruce (CREAM) and Lemmy Kilmister (MOTÖRHEAD), Mikey pioneered an agressive speed-picking style and liberal employment of bass chords that few have been able to emulate in the past 20 years. He will be sorely missed, certainly in Austin and his hometown of Killeen, but also across the globe. A memorial celebration in Austin is pending and the date will be announced soon.

Spike Cassidy, founder / guitarist of D.R.I. was diagnosed with cancer in march of 2006. A one foot section of large intestine (colon) was removed through an eight inch incision in his stomach. The surgery which took place on March 27th was said to be successful in removing all traces of the cancer. Cassidy is now going through 6 months of chemotherapy and radiation treatments to try to prevent the cancer from reappearing, which is known to be common.

All tours and shows have been canceled. Merchandise orders will all be shipped much later then the normal 2-4 weeks. If your waiting on an order that’s already late be patient, it’s on the way, promise. All orders will be shipped as soon as possible.

Updates on Spikes health, and the bands future will be posted here monthly. Spike, his family, and D.R.I. appreciate the concern every one has shown, and wish they could thank each and every one of you personally.

DRI HeadQuarters is moving up to washington. Thats right, after spending 22 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, we are saying bye to cali. We are relocating to the Seattle area, and setting up shop. During the next few weeks things here will be at a stand still, till we are up and running in our new home. If your waiting for an email response, or a merch order to arrive, and its taking longer then normal, now you know why. Please be patient, we expect to have everything back to normal soon.
While most of the DRI biz will be now handled out of washington, we will still have band members living in california, texas and florida. We ask that you no longer use our old addresses for snail mail, especially the san francisco address, since we are tyring to fizzle them out. Our new washington addy will be posted here soon.

Incase ya didnt see or hear, DRI has a song on the new Backyard Wrestling 2 video game from eidos entertainment. Very kool game! And probably the best wrestling game & soundtrack ever. There's a ton of great bands and songs, and the game itself is awesome.
We are also expecting to have a song on the new Tony Hawk Underground video game, and a new Surfer movie called "Bruce the Movie". Last but not least, and also due out this year, the Punk Rock Orchestra should be covering a DRI song on its next release.

BEER CITY ON SCENE TV Viewers in Minnesota, Western Wisconsin, and Nothern Iowa can tune in to SCENE TV Sunday, January 9th at 11:00 pm on KSTC channel 45 (cable 12) for the Beer City episode! The episode will feature the Beer City band D.R.I. including the band's music and an interview with Kurt and Spike, as well as interviews with Beer Nutz Pro Kristian Svitak, and Beer City sponsored ams Rich DeVaughn and Dustin Christian!

ONCE AGAIN WE ARE ABOUT TO LEAVE ON ANOTHER TOUR, AND ONCE AGAIN THE WEBSTORES SHOPPING CART WILL BE DISABLED FOR A WHILE BECAUSE WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHIP ORDERS WITHIN THE 2-4 WEEK NORMAL TIME PERIOD WHILE WE ARE GONE. We just got back from europe and another ground breaking tour. We managed to play a few countries we have never played before, and that not an easy task. I think most of would agree that one of the best parts of the tour was all of our shows in eastern europe. Every show there was great. Spain was awsome as usual too! If you took some pictures at one of the shows on that tour, please send us the best.
Things are getting back to normal here at dirty rotten headquarters, and the webstore will be back online shortly. we are touring the usa again this july - august, and most of the dates are already posted on the DRI pollstar site. we will be playing mexicali mexico in june, san juan puerto rico in august, and are expecting dates in monterrey mexico & south america to be confimed soon.

The Oaklahoma based Earth A.D.'s second release "Death Toll" was produced by D.R.I.'s Own spike Cassidy. The CD is due out soon, and includes a guest appearence from Jeff - N.O.T.A. playing rythm guitar on a cover of motorhead's "Iron Fist".

D.R.I.'s U.K./Euro Tour 2004 kicks off today, with thier first show being the infamous Punk Aid Festival in England. This 7 week tour covers 16 countries, and brings D.R.I. back to some places they have not played in years. As well as some uncharted new teritories. Dave's Probot Project is out now and has been receiving rave reviews. Kurt sings on track 6 called Silent Spring, The Probot CD features an amazing line up of singers: CRONOS (VENOM), MAX CAVALERA (SOULFLY, SEPULTURA), LEMMY (MOTORHEAD), MIKE DEAN (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY), LEE DORRIAN ( CATHEDRAL / NAPALM DEATH), WINO (PLACE OF SKULLS / THE OBSESSED, ST. 2 - YES, WE ARE ALSO TRYING TO WORK OUT THE DETAILS THAT WILL PUT DRI WITH THE DEAD KENNEDYS DOWN IN COSTA RICA THIS NOVEMBER.

HOPEFULLY, EVERYTHING WILL WORK OUT AND BOTH WILL HAPPEN. WE WILL STILL BE RESUMING OUR 20TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY TOUR IN SPRING, REGARDLESS. THE MISFITS TOUR WOULD COME AFTER IT IN SUMMER. I'LL BE POSTING UPDATES ON ALL THIS STUFF HERE...
