03/24/2001 7:47:54am Question : How come I never see you guys on T.V or in a magazine? Spike sayz : Were underground. you can see us on low budget cable access shows scattered accross the country, and some of the rest of the world. we are in rags not magazines. I do interviews for small zerox copied local rags every month. we even get radio play on college stations all over. the stuff you see on commercial tv, in the color magazines & hear on commercial radio is usually paid for by record labels, in hopes of raising sales. since we dont have a record label, we are on the DIY route. we never did get all that much push even when we were on a label. and when we did, people called us sell outs. |

Spike sayz : If you really look there is. right here in the FAQs section there is questions and answers about what equipment and effects i use. there is also some guitar tab to teach what i play. heres a tip... dont quit your day job. the music biz sux, and will find some way to screw you. trust me, ask any musician that has been in the biz for more than 5 years. if your really serious, and have the patients and stamina to not give up... go for it. |

Spike sayz : Well the bass lines usually just follow the guitar lines. who ever played the lines on a record wrote it. the is a few exceptions where i wrote the bass line or a previous bass player wrote it before it was recorded by the next. |

Spike sayz : No, rotten records refuses to stop selling our old catalog, and seems to be distributing them through centry media or something. We consider them Bootlegs and ask our fans not to buy them, unless they are dirctly from us at a show, through this website, or through our mail order. If you must buy from a store make sure it has the Beer City Records Logo on the back! |

Spike sayz : No. with everyone in the world owning a video camera nowadays, theres usually one at a show. we do bring one and use it on occassion. we also record audio once in a while. in the past we took recording equipment on tour with us and recorded every show. but not anymore. we get alot of stuff sent to us, and given to us at shows. the library is pretty big. but most of it is low bootleg quality. |

Spike sayz : Not alot. but i do have a DRI plate from a fan in wisconsin hanging on the wall at DRI headquarters. I think you can see it sometimes in the webcam on the homepage. UPDATED: Not anymore, them webcam was given the boot when the new web site was built. |

Spike sayz : Its as real as it gets. with the exception of the pounding on the door wich we had to dub in cause you couldnt hear the real pounding good enough. it was our 2nd or 3rd practice, we had a ghetto blaster rolling to record our noise. the madman came bustin in and it captured him live .... it took us a year or so till we had a song about the madman. and another year before we used the ghetto blaster recording of him on a record. ofcourse the music was not recorded on a ghetto blaster either. |

Question : WHAT GUITAR EFFECTS USUALLY DO YOU USE? Spike sayz : Just Distortion Really. I use all kinds of effects on some intro's and outro's, leads and noise tracks. like chourus, delay, reverb etc. But the main guitar sound is really just distortion and tones derived from amps & pick ups. I do use a rack full of stuff, but its gear like a Wireless Transmitter, Tuner, EQ & Noise Reduction. |

Heres the story: Members of DRI have minor (DUI, Public intoxication etc..) criminal records (like what good ol punkmetal band wouldnt?). The Canadian Border has become very strict over the last 6 years, and wont let us in anymore. We are not criminals. We travel to every other country in the world with no hassels. Tell your border to lighten up! |
